Although being described as “fat”, Becky is the first of her group of friends to get married. This does not sit well with her Maid of Honor, Regan, a pill-popping Queen B, whose own relationship is going nowhere. Against Becky’s wishes, Regan invites two toxic party girls from their high school days – Down to earth Gena and sweet but somewhat dimwitted Katie- with the intention of trashing Becky’s expensive New York City hotel room, on a wild bacheloretteparty without the bride. The evening starts out innocently enough with plenty of champagne, cocaine and cruel gossip. However, when the girls tear Becky’s wedding dress, and Regan invites some random dudes, to join the party, the evening starts to look like an extravagant disaster. Leslye Headsland’s hilarious black comedy Bachelorette explores gluttony and envy through the lens of addiction. This play is a fast – paced, extremely foul – mouthed look at hurt, betrayal and friendship in our modern society.
